Terms & shipping policy

Who we are

MintBoon is a retailer of Japanese trading cards for collectors, resellers, and card shops, operated from Japan. Orders are shipped by us directly from Japan. We ship to the destinations listed in our shipping policy; other countries are handled on request.

Prices & orders

Catalog prices track the current Japanese market and are updated regularly, so a listed price may change until checkout is completed. The item price shown is the price charged; shipping for your country is shown before you pay.

An order becomes binding when checkout is completed and the selected payment method is successfully submitted. If an item becomes unavailable after payment, we will offer a full refund or an agreed substitute.

Import duties & local taxes

Except for shipments to the United States, shipments are Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU). Prices exclude import duties, VAT/GST, and local taxes or customs charges at the destination; these are payable by the buyer as importer of record on arrival. We neither request nor receive those charges and cannot control what a destination authority assesses.

United States shipments are Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). A 12% import-duty and clearance surcharge is added to the product price at checkout, and duties are prepaid before dispatch. Because the duty is prepaid, the carrier will not ask you for import duty when your parcel is delivered.

The 12% surcharge is a flat charge covering the import-duty rate that destination applies to goods from Japan, plus clearance and handling costs. Published duty rates change, and customs procedures are not fully stable, so the duty actually assessed on a shipment may differ from the amount collected at checkout. We do not charge you again if the assessed amount is higher. If it is materially lower, the difference is refunded to your original payment method.

We declare every shipment accurately, with a correct commercial invoice. We cannot and will not under-declare value or mislabel contents. Clearing the goods and settling any destination duties or taxes is the buyer’s responsibility.

Payment

Orders totaling US$1,500 or less may be paid by card through Stripe. For an order above that, email us and we will arrange payment with you before anything is shipped.

Card payments are processed immediately by Stripe and may use 3D Secure.

Shipping & delivery

Orders ship with tracking. Insurance depends on the service selected at checkout: the Insured service is covered against loss and damage, and Economy is tracked but not covered. Which services are available is shown before payment.

Transit time after dispatch depends on the service, the carrier and the destination country, and can be longer during peak periods or carrier disruption. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees.

You receive the tracking number on dispatch. On the Insured service, risk of loss in transit is covered, and claims are handled against the carrier’s tracking record and the order record held against your order ID. On Economy there is no such cover, and a lost or damaged parcel cannot be claimed against one.

Inspection & evidence

Every order is checked against its listing before dispatch. The order record — the item and grade ordered, the price agreed, the carrier and tracking number, and the terms accepted at checkout — is stored against your order ID and is the basis for resolving a condition or delivery dispute.

Graded singles carry additional evidence: the grading company’s certification number identifies that exact item and its assessed condition independently of us. Shrink-wrapped boxes are supplied factory-sealed and are never opened or repacked by us. One Piece and Dragon Ball boxes are sealed with tape rather than shrink wrap: those are checked at the box level when we acquire them — the packs counted and every pack seal examined — so they are supplied with the outer tape cut and the booster packs factory-sealed. No booster pack is ever opened. Quote your order ID — and the certification number where the item has one — when raising a condition claim.

Fixed-product retail, authenticity & age

MintBoon sells identified physical products, including sealed boxes and boosters. Sales are ordinary retail purchases of the product shown, not raffles, loot boxes, wagering, or gambling.

PSA-, BGS-, and other professionally graded slabs rely on the named grading company’s authentication and grading, verifiable by certification number. If an item received materially differs from its description, return and refund eligibility is assessed against the listing, the order record, and the returned item’s condition.

Age verification is not required because the products sold are neither gambling products nor adult-only products.

Cancellations & refunds

An order may be cancelled at any time before it ships. Once an order has shipped it cannot be cancelled; see Returns.

A cancellation requested by the buyer is refunded at 90% of the total amount paid for the order. The 10% retained covers payment processing on the original charge, which the payment processor charges on the full amount paid — including shipping and any prepaid import duty — and does not return when an order is refunded.

Where we cancel because an item proves unavailable after payment, you are refunded in full or offered an equivalent — your choice — and no deduction is made.

Card refunds are returned through Stripe; Wise refunds are arranged manually to a verified bank account.

Returns

Orders are not returnable once dispatched. The items we sell are individually selected collectibles whose value depends on condition and provenance, so we do not accept returns for change of mind, for a card that did not meet a personal expectation, or because a market price moved after purchase. Check the listing, the grade, and the photographs before you order, and ask us anything you are unsure of first — we answer pre-purchase questions in detail precisely because the sale is final.

This does not limit your rights where an item arrives damaged, is not the item ordered, or materially differs from its description. Those cases are covered under Damaged or incorrect items and Inspection & evidence, and are handled at our cost.

Following changes to VAT and customs rules, we are currently not selling to European Union countries. The following paragraphs apply to EU orders placed before that change and to the statutory rights of any EU consumer who has purchased from us.

Consumers in the European Union have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days of delivery, and that right applies to EU orders regardless of the paragraphs above. To exercise it, tell us within 14 days of delivery and return the item within 14 days of telling us.

On a withdrawal, return postage is paid by you, and the return must be sent tracked and insured for the item’s full value: until the parcel reaches us it is at your risk, and an item that arrives damaged, or does not arrive, is not refunded in full. Outbound shipping is refunded only up to the cost of the cheapest standard delivery we offer to your country — never an express or upgraded service you chose. Any import duty we prepaid on your behalf is not refunded to us by the destination customs authority and is therefore not refunded to you. Your refund is issued after the returned item reaches us and has been inspected, to the original payment method.

A sealed product that has been opened, and a graded slab returned outside its original, unbroken grading case, have lost the value the refund is measured against, and are refunded only to the extent of their diminished value. A slab whose case has been cracked or tampered with has no resale value as a graded item and is not refunded. Handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature and condition of the item is deducted from the refund.

Refused, unclaimed & undeliverable parcels

If a parcel is refused at delivery, left unclaimed until the carrier returns it, or cannot be delivered because of an incorrect or incomplete address, the outbound and return shipping costs are deducted from any refund. The address supplied at checkout is the address we ship to.

Where import duty was prepaid at checkout, that duty is not refunded on a refused or returned parcel. It was paid to the destination authority before dispatch and is not returned to us. A refund of prepaid duty is claimed from the destination authority by the importer, so if you want to pursue it, tell us and we will provide the shipment and customs paperwork you need to file the claim.

Damaged or incorrect items — tell us within 48 hours

A claim for a damaged or incorrect item must reach us within 48 hours of delivery and must include photographs or, better, a video of the unopened parcel being opened. Record the sealed outer packaging with the shipping label visible, then the item as it comes out. Keep all packaging until the claim is settled.

Where a damaged or incorrect item is confirmed, we pay the return postage and issue a full refund, or send a replacement if one is available, and no cancellation deduction applies. We can only pursue a carrier or insurance claim on this evidence, so a report without it may not be recoverable — filming the parcel as you open it is the single thing that protects you here.

Liability

Our responsibility is limited to supplying the agreed goods, accurate customs documentation, and tracked dispatch by the service you selected, insured where that service is insured. We are not liable for destination duties/taxes, for customs delays or inspections, or for delivery times, which depend on the carrier and the destination authorities.
